After generations of sturdy denial and the evolution of chemicals, mordants even, thought to make our natural  kinky hair more manageable; and of course careful observations, alongside follow-ups on blogs on my part, I’ve realised how seriously African women have now taken up the ‘team kinky hair’ parade.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for the beauty of our natural kinky but my only wonder is; why are we suddenly on this march to rock our God-given afro?  Was it not some ten, twenty years ago that we would willingly apply  the harshest forms of relaxer to achieve the bone-straight mane we see on several fashion-inclined magazines and even wear synthetic extensions, only because it made us look like dolls?  So what changed? What’s the motive behind the ‘fro? I just need to know that there aren’t some women out there who are out to prove that blacks are…
